What types of shower glass are available, and what are the differences?

Frameless Shower with swinging door:  Frameless shower glass is the most updated, elegant looking shower.  It is either 3/8" or 1/2" glass.  Being "frameless" means it does not have any aluminum framing around any of the glass.  Rather, it uses clips mounted to the tile to hold the glass.

Frameless Sliding Shower:  This type of frameless shower does not have a swing door, but rather one or both of the panels slide with "barn door" style rollers at the top of the unit.

Semi Frameless showers usually have one or both panels being 1/4" thick, with aluminum framing around the perimeter but NOT down the center line of the door and panel (or both sliding panels in the case of a semi frameless slider shower).

Framed showers are usually the cheapest choice of shower.  They will have aluminum framing surrounding all sides of all doors and panels.  They typically use 1/4" glass.

Three different types of glass are shown on a table.
